Ms. Dan Liu is a famous Chinese dancer and vocalist. She has starred in a number of popular Chinese movies and TV series.
Ms. Liu is currently a performing artist in China Railway Art Troupe, and a member of the Chinese Music and Dance Association. She graduated from Henan University in 1988, where she received professional training in different dance styles including ballet, Chinese folk dance, and modern dance. She also studied vocal music in the China Central Conservatory of Music in 1996.
Ms. Liu has many years of experience in stage performance and children’s art education. She has received many local and national awards including the Gold Medal in Henan Dance Competition and the Excellent Performance award of the China Railway Bureau Cultural Festival. She has performed in various cultural events in China, Japan, and several European countries. Ms. Liu’s students have won many dance and vocal competitions in the Henan Province, and have later become professional dancers and vocalists.
Elaine began her dance training at age 4 in Lewisville, Texas at Ballet Conservatory with Kelly Lannin. She studied there for 11 years before moving to New York City to attend Manhattan Youth Ballet under a full tuition scholarship. There she trained with amazing teachers such as Daniel Ulbricht, Deborah Wingert, Michael Vernon, Peter O’Brian, and Marina Stavitskaya. In 2013 she moved back to Texas and began training with the Texas Ballet Theater School Dallas Campus and performed with Texas Ballet Theater in the Nutcracker. Over the years she has attended summer programs at Cincinnati Ballet, PNB on full scholarship, SAB, and Houston Ballet as well as having been accepted to the summer programs of Miami City Ballet, ABT NY, Boston Ballet, and Chautauqua.
Throughout her performing career, Elaine has had the privilege of dancing roles in countless ballets such as Serenade, Divertimento No. 15, Sleeping Beauty, Midsummer Night’s Dream, Don Quixote, The Nutcracker, Cinderella, Le Ballet de Dracula, La Bayadere, and many more. In these ballets, Elaine performed leading roles such as The Dark Angle, Aurora, The Lilac Fairy, Marzipan, Arabian, and Kitri. Audience members said they were moved to tears, and in a performance review she was praised for her “exquisite dancing.”
Her first experience teaching was in NYC at Manhattan Youth Ballet where she assisted teaching a pre-ballet class. Then, starting in 2014, she taught intermediate/advanced ballet technique and variations classes at the Dance Project Dallas. This caused her to fell in love with teaching and inspired her to make it her main focus. She then began teaching pre-ballet/tap, ballet, jazz, and competition team technique classes at Innovative Dance Inc. Later, she began teaching at the Chamberlain School of Ballet, and is delighted to still be teaching there today as well as offering private lessons to students of all ages. Using her passion for dance, and talent in communication, Elaine equips her students with lifelong skills for dancing as well as wherever else in life their feet take them.
